My Specialist Pruning Service is suitable for those who aren't looking for regular garden maintenance (maybe you like to do your garden yourself or have existing help) but need help properly maintaining their ornamental shrubs and small trees.
Pruning is an area of garden maintenance that a lot of people find challenging or nerve racking because you know you ought to prune your shrubs but you don't want to cause them any damage! In my experience it's also often the case that a lot of people who work as gardeners may be happy to mow lawns, cut hedges and even do a bit of weeding but simply don't have the knowledge or experience to appropriately prune ornamental shrubs. If you have new or mature shrubs that you want to look after properly, I can help.
How does the service work?
Whether you have just a few or a whole garden stocked full of shrubs my first port of call is to do an initial visit, take stock of what shrubs you have and chat to you about which ones you're looking for specialist help with. I'll then make a record of what shrubs you want looking after and create a pruning/care-calendar for your shrubs.
I will then be in touch with you at the appropriate times of year for each shrub to arrange a visit to carry out any necessary pruning or care work. For example if you had a mature Wisteria, at a minimum I would look to arrange visits for pruning in July/August for the summer prune then again over winter for the winter prune and training. I can also provide advice for you as to any care it may need in between these visits like feeding or watering.
Prices and terms
- I charge £30 an hour for this pruning/care work which includes drawing up the calendar and keeping any relevant notes up to date.
- Any additional materials like compost, feed, wire etc are charged at cost
